La Fête dans la Ville 2006

This year the « Fête dans la Ville » will last for four days and will be taking place throughout the town centre of Amiens as well as its surrounding areas.
Street performance is an ever evolving art form and the performers are constantly looking for new ways to use the urban spaces in evermore creative ways to delight their onlooking audiences. There are the grand parades like those of the « Royal de Luxe » and there are the smaller, more intimate ones which can be performed and reperformed for longer periods.
In order to nurture and encourage our local talent and creative energy within a cultural economy
which is under more and more strain, it was essential to establish a production and disribution network along with other partners without whom none of this would have been possible.
Our Street Arts factory « The Hangar » was set up by Amiens Métropole to house the creative operations and more expensive coproductions, which require the artistic groups to work together
for 2 or 3 years. This means it is essential for the artists to be able to commit themselves for the entire duration of the production. What is more this is also an opportunity for the companies to gain
a better perception of the town and its inhabitants.
This year our festival will be showing some of these important artistic productions with the company KompleXKapharnaûM, the English troop Wild Works, les Groom and Zic Zazou…
« La Fête dans la Ville » is a free festival, open to one and all ! It has always been the policy of this cultual event to bring everyone toghether for a shared experience.
The « Fête dans la Ville » 2006 will last for four days…As was the case last year in 2005 with
« Royal De Luxe ». Performances will be starting as from Thursday evening.
There will be two stating points to choose from, either The Cosserat factory or the «Citadelle ». Then on Friday in «le petit bois Réaumur» in « St Maurice » Quarter…
On Saturday night there will be the one and only Amiens Town Centre Parade !
We will be able to discover the new Zic Zazou production and a grand street parade based on the aviation loving Lindbergh presented by a young company called « La Française de Comptages ».
All Sunday afternoon, as is its well loved tradition, the whole of Amiens town centre will be alive
/ with a of a multitude of performaces !
So a very full and busy «Fête dans la Ville» in store, with around twenty performing companies
and no less than 9 original creations !
The 30th edition of the festival is already in the pipeline. Some projects have begun for the 2007 festival…
